The new home of Interalloy incorporates 8,800m2 of internal warehousing, factory and office space in Dandenong.

The 112m overall span of the building is divided into three equal bays with internal columns supporting the crane beams. In order to accommodate heavy overhead cranes, the design required the crane beams to be connected by site welded horizontal angle members forming a lattice structure between the beams.

Cojo Steel & Associates improved the original design by opting to prefabricate the latticed double crane beams in the factory. The geometry of the lattice and the configuration of the rafter to column connection were detailed in a way to allow the double beam to be slid down along the column into position as a single piece prior to erecting the roof structure.

Overall the project included 250t of steel and 8400m of purlins and girts. It was another project finished in time and within the quality parameters required.
